The National Association Opposed to Woman Suffrage (NAOWS) formed in 1911 in New York in opposition to the Susan B. Anthony Amendment, which became the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that prohibited both state and federal government from denying any citizen the right to vote based on gender.
